Booking & arrival
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4:00 PM, normally between 4:00 and 7:00 PM. Check-out is by 10:00 AM.
If you need to arrive later than 7:00 PM, let us know. Early check-in and late check-out can sometimes be arranged in advance for a fee.
How do we get into the house?
Entry is keyless. Two days before you arrive you will receive a message from your host with your entry code. The code activates at your check-in time.
Can I book directly instead of through Airbnb?
Yes, and we would rather you did, booking direct usually works out better for both of us. You can also book through Airbnb if you prefer to keep everything on one account. Both options are here.
The house
How many bedrooms and bathrooms are there?
Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master and the second bedroom each have a queen bed, and there is a separate bunk room for the kids. One bathroom has a tub-and-shower combination, the other has a glass walk-in shower.
Do you have a crib?
Yes. A Graco Pack 'n Play travel crib is always onsite, so there is nothing to request or arrange.
Is there air conditioning?
Yes. Each bedroom and the main living area has its own heater and air conditioner, with a remote control near the light switch. The great room also has a gas fireplace that can be lit manually.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, fast internet throughout, good enough for video calls. The network is CrownPointJewell, and your password is in your check-in message and posted inside the house.
Is there a washer and dryer?
Yes, full size, in the garage. We provide detergent for a few loads.
What is in the kitchen?
A gas stove and oven, dishwasher, a microwave with an air fryer setting, a double-door fridge with water and ice, and a second fridge in the garage. Plus a blender, mixer, toaster, rice cooker, hot water maker, coffee maker and grinder.
Parking & getting around
Is there parking?
Yes. The garage fits one car and has an EV charger, and there is plenty of free street parking. The garage code is the same as the main house code, and there is a remote control you can keep in your car during your stay.
Can we use the bikes?
Yes, adult bikes and kids scooters are in the garage. The keys are in the blue lockbox; complete the bike responsibility waiver and we will send the code. Guests accept responsibility for bike use. Please lock them back up before check-out.
The Mission Bay bike path runs right along the water from here.
The beach & the area
How far is the house from the beach?
A short walk, a couple of minutes on foot. Crown Point sits on Mission Bay, the calm, sheltered side of the water, which makes it a lot easier with small children than the open ocean beaches.
How close is SeaWorld?
About five minutes by car or Uber. Belmont Park is under ten minutes, and Pacific Beach is a short ride up the bay path.
Do you provide beach gear?
Yes. A beach wagon, beach chairs, buckets, nets and beach games are in the garage, and beach towels are in the hall closet. There is also a portable charcoal BBQ you can carry down to the sand, bring your own charcoal.
House rules
Are parties allowed?
No. We do not allow parties, gatherings, or professional video or photography events. Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and there is absolutely no smoking inside the house.
How does the fire pit work?
It lights at the push of a button from a timer panel on the patio wall, and shuts itself off when the timer runs out. We filmed it, three short how-to videos here.
