How to use the fire pit

The gas fire pit on the back patio takes two knobs. The black one turns on the gas, the white one lights it. Here is the whole thing in about a minute of video.

The full startup, in one go

Setting the flame, then lighting it at the panel. 57 seconds.

The short version

There are two knobs on the patio wall. The black one turns on the gas. The white one lights it. You need both, in that order. The little engraved plaques on the wall are numbered to match these steps.

  1. Turn on the gas. Three quick things:
    1. Check the flame first. Use the fire pit key (it will be silver or white) to make sure the flame isn’t off. Turn it left then right and leave it in the middle.

      The key at the base of the pit sets how high the flame burns. Middle is a good starting point.
    2. Turn the black knob on. It is the gas.
    3. Check the red button is out. It sits beside the black knob and is marked push to stop. If it is pushed in, nothing will light. Pull it back out.

  2. Light it. Lift the white weatherproof cover on the patio wall and rotate the white knob. That is the igniter, and the fire pit lights from it.
  3. Turn it off. Rotate the white knob back to off, and turn the black knob off as well. Both knobs shut off.

Please keep an eye on it. Never leave the fire pit burning unattended, keep children and anything flammable well clear of the rim, and make sure it is fully off before you go inside or head to bed. The stones stay hot for a while after shutdown.

While you are out there
